The Silent Patient book Review:
Alex Mikaelidis’s first novel is Bajimat. In 2019, according to Goodreads users, “The Silent Patient” won the title of best mystery novel. A book worth reading. Any thriller reader will have a good time with the book.
It all started with the small family world of Alicia Berenson and her husband Gabriel Berenson. Which means to say happy life. But what happened suddenly that Alicia shot Gabriel five times in a row? Bigger than that, he is observing silence after the murder, due to which the real motive of the murder is not known. Apparently the murder was caused by a marital quarrel, but Alicia’s silence is creating food for thought.
By now it would seem like a story written about the mystery of a common murder, like any other murder mystery. But here the author has shown his quality. Criminal psychotherapist Theo Faber has added elements of a psychological thriller to the story, just as he has unraveled the mystery of the murder. The book describes the facilities related to therapy, descriptions of patients, their use and its causes, treatment method etc.
Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist. He has been waiting a long time to work with Alicia. Once you get the opportunity. But when Alicia opens her mouth and reveals the truth about her husband’s murder, she faces a different danger. The truth will not put his own existence in crisis?
To tell the story, there was no linear, side plot. Like reading. But after a while it began to seem as if the same thing was being said over and over again by the author. That’s when the push. Perfect and silently the author pushes the readers. The revelation of Theo Faber’s mystery seems a bit conventional, but by the end of the story it is clear that it was needed.
The interesting thing is that the main characters of the story are only two people in one word – Theo and Alicia. Other characters but minor. From time to time they have been brought to the scene. The author has given the gift of a thriller with very few characters. Alicia’s backstory has been shortened, I wanted to get more maybe. And the same thing seems to have been written over and over again in Theo Faber’s work. Besides, there was no such problem.
